Restoration markets lack access to technical services for standardization and verification. Furthermore, there is no technical service available that functions as a ground-truthing mechanism & links these verified efforts to consumer markets to obtain sustainable financing.
Greenstand’s Treetracker app maps and verifies the existence of each individual tree while linking the smallholder farmer responsible for growing it so they can receive payment for their tree monitoring efforts. This intervention focuses on remote, degraded landscapes where people live in poverty.
We serve rural subsistence farmers around the globe who are living on less than $2 PPP a day. By creating a direct link between growers on the ground and consumer markets, we strive to create a circular economy of green jobs accessible anywhere.
Our Treetracker monitoring service relies on human-powered restoration at the individual tree level to provide data about each tree & its grower. Greenstand specifically remains non-competitive in the reforestation industry by not planting trees. Our focus is on providing a technical service that can be used wherever trees are being grown – adding even more to the uniqueness of this project.
